New York City

Day 1 Manhattan

Downtown Manhattan is unreal! Having been in two very large Spanish cities, Barcelona and Madrid, I thought I was prepared for the sheer size of New York City but I was mistaken. The city is enormous, breath-taking, and awe-inspiring.


From the metro station we blazed a trail through the city to see as many free stuff as we could. The first was the Empire state building. Which was a wee bit over the budget to justify going to the top. But it was quite an impressive view from the ground. Let alone the city itself at this point.





After that we also went over and saw Madison Square Garden.



There is a very special Burger King called the Whopper Bar. Quite comical really.


Then off to Times Square. I can only imagine this place full of people during New Years or other special events.






There was a very conveniently placed recruitment center in downtown. Woot Woot for our Armed Forces!

We walked around the Rockefeller Center and saw an impressive set of buildings and businesses. And thankfully there was also a Chipotle nearby. For that matter, if you check google maps, there are like 25 Chipotle’s in the Manhattan area of New York City, and none in Queens, the area we are staying in. Sad…





The Museum of Modern Art is also in one of the Rockefeller buildings. This museum is dedicated to modern contemporary art. We took advantage of Friday Free Afternoon’s and got in for free. It has some nice pieces but our favorites were actually of some famous Spanish artists (In Barcelona we were going to go to a Dali museum to see the melting clocks painting, then we searched online and found out it wasn’t even there and so we searched for where 4
it was and found that it was here in NY and we were excited, knowing we would travel to there next).

We at lunch in Central park. It was beautiful and very relaxing in comparison to the endless activity on NYC.





We saw some more classic places such as City music hall and Carnegie hall.





There is just so many people and so much to see that just when we thought we had seen it all this is what we found!



Sorely missed while away in Costa Rica and Spain!
