Day 4

Today we hit the Castellon beach. We didn’t get much sun since it was overcast and windy which probably worked out to our advantage as we stayed there longer than we would have had it been hot out. I also went for a nice run on the beach and afterward enjoyed the cool sea.

The patients are given responsibilities each day, including cooking meals. While breakfast left me wanting as it was just “galletas” cookies/crackers with coffee or tea, the lunches and dinners were delicious. While each meal had a different main course they also came with fresh salads, bread, and fruit. Every Sunday we were there also they made Paella. Which is a Spanish dish of rice, meat, and vegetables. It was delicious!

We also ate our lunch, usually bocadillas (sandwiches) out here.

Two of the other patients were Toni and Nacho. Toni reminded me a lot of my Uncle Doug. Also jesting around and knows how to enjoy a good laugh, one that is not at the expensive of others and helps you just enjoy the day and being alive. Nacho was also a joker and in the way of occupation similar to my Uncle yet again, in the fact that he was a truck driver. They both were excellent cooks and let us sample Spanish food at its best.
Here's Nacho with a praying mantis.

Kyle Smith was also in Spain over this weekend but we were unable to connect up. This reminded us how much we are missing family and friends. We have not smelled the sweet air or touched the free land of the U.S.A. since Feb 11 (6 months).
