Day 7

Today our friend from Serbia, Sanja presented about “Salud de hombres” Health of Men. So each group had to split into 2 groups, and draw the silhouette of a man on a large piece of paper. Then they had to write some qualities of a man as well as diseases that this man might get during his life. We talked about all of these in detail and had some great discussions. Of course, as always the first group was a struggle, but we made it through and they all went ok.

Two more of the men in our treatment center were Javi and Quique. Javi is a 21 years old that is very loud and outgoing, and really liked Jordan. He was always talking to him and this brought about the word of the week “Claro” Javi had a different accent, and seemed to increase his tone at the end of all of his words. It was funny and interesting to us. Also, when he was very sure about something, he would always say “claro” which literally means clearly. But its more like a for sure. Anyways, all of the guys ended up saying that, and Jordan included, they liked to say it more like ccclllaaaaarrrrrooooo(with the accent on the o). It was funny.

Quique is about 33 and has a 3 year old son that is very cute. He and Javi arrived at about the same time, and were always hanging out. Quique liked to make bracelets out of beads, and made about 10 for Sanja and 5 for me. I think Sanja had one in ever color and size, haha. Quique was very calm and liked to sit around and watch us play Rummikub.

We taught him how to play so hopefully he can teach other guys and they can enjoy
doing that when we leave.

Before going to bed this night, we were talking to Amaya in English a little bit. She understands a lot of English, but doesn’t speak as much. So I taught her something that we say at night, “bed time”. Then we were also saying “good night.” So as we turned out the lights, and were ready for bed, Amaya said “good bed.” And we all started laughing, and she joined in once we explained what she said. So this became something we said before going to bed every night, just as a little joke. 
